Pokerstars runs a number of great Sunday tournaments. They have the biggest weekly tournament in the world, the Sunday Million. They also have the second biggest weekly tournament, the Sunday Warm Up. But one of the Pokerstars tournaments that doesn’t get much publicity is also huge. It’s called the Pokerstars 500.
Pokerstars 500 Tournament
The Pokerstars 500 is run every Sunday at 18:00 ET, has a direct buy-in of $500 + 30, and a guaranteed prize pool of $500,000. Tons of satellite and qualifier tournaments are available for as little as $2.50+.25 or 920 Frequent Player Points (FPP’s). It normally generates around 1000 players, fighting for a top prize in the $85,000 – $90,000 range.
Pokerstars 500 Tournament Structure
The Pokerstars 500 is a deep stack tournament (in online terms), with 10,000 chip starting stacks and 20 minute blind levels. With that said, the blinds go up in sizeable proportions, starting at just 25/50, but reaching 250/500 and 25 antes as soon as the first break is over (1 hr). So, while the starting stacks are deep, pressure to build a stack as early as possible still exists. After the second break, the blinds are 1000/2000, with 200 antes. Play Now.
There are no rebuys or add-ons for the Pokerstars 500, but late registration is available. Players can enter the tournament as late as 1 hour after it begins.
